Pyongyang has ordered UN weapons inspectors to leave the country, and vowed to restart all its nuclear facilities. It is the latest example of North Korea’s use of its nuclear programme as its ultimate bargaining chip. Azhar Sukri reports.

North Korea is ignoring international demands to stop developing nuclear capabilities. The US says it will not accept North Korea as a nuclear state. [Robert Gates, US Defense Secretary]: “The policy of the United States has not changed. Our goal is complete and verifiable — denuclearisation of the Korean peninsula and we will not accept North Korea as a nuclear weapon state.
